17 Μαΐου 1993. Είκοσι εννέα χρόνια πριν ο Maurizio Estate εργαζόμενος σε ένα πλυντήριο αυτοκινήτων στην Napoli είδε δύο μαφιόζους να ληστεύουν έναν άνθρωπο και ενώ θα μπορούσε να γυρίσει από την άλλη και να προσποιηθεί ότι τίποτα δεν συμβαίνει αρχίζει να ουρλιάζει, τρέχει προς το μέρος τους και παρεμβαίνει ώστε να αποτρέψει τη ληστεία. Ήταν ένας ήρωας, και αυτό φαινόταν φυσιολογικό.

Λίγες ώρες αργότερα, η Καμόρα επιστρέφει στο πλυντήριο αυτοκινήτων για να πάρει εκδίκηση. Θα γαζωσουν με τα αυτόματα το πλυντήριο και τον νεαρό. «Ο Maurizio γεμάτος σφαίρες πεθαίνει στην αγκαλιά του πατέρα του, που δούλευε και αυτός εκεί».

Ο Maurizio ήταν μόλις 23 ετών. Μετά θάνατον του απονεμήθηκε το χρυσό μετάλλιο για πολιτική ανδρεία, λόγω του παραδείγματος για την αίσθηση του καθήκοντος και του θάρρους.
Το να θυμομαστε άνδρες, σαν το Mauricio είναι καθήκον για να μην χάνουμε την ανθρώπινη φύση μας και το δρόμο μας.

Maurizio Estate (1970 – Naples, 17 May 1993) was an Italian man who was a victim of the Camorra, gold medal for civil valor.

On May 17, 1993, Maurizio was working at his father's car wash, when two criminals entered to rob a customer present inside the business. Maurizio reacts to the robbery by managing to scare the two away without them succeeding in their aim.

After half an hour, the two kidnappers return to the car wash, and one of them fires a gunshot, hitting Maurizio full in the chest, who dies shortly afterwards. After a few days the police arrest the two murderers, the first, the one who shot, is Luigi Ragosta, the second, the one who was driving the Vespa, is Giuseppe Bendinelli, tracked down in the Marche region. Both were sentenced to 20 years, 6 months and 24 years in prison respectively.

Titles
On May 17, 2005, the municipality of Naples under the administration of mayor Rosa Russo Jervolino, named a square after Maurizio Estate in the Scampia district, between via Baku and via Ghisleri. On 15 January 2018, on the twenty-fifth anniversary of his death, the municipality of Naples, under the administration of mayor Luigi De Magistris, named the gardens of via Vetriera in the Chiaia district and walled up a plaque. The garrison of Libera di Chiaia, Posillipo and San Ferdinando was named after Maurizio.
