We have pleasure in announcing our 2nd competition, organised under the auspices of FIAP (http://www.fiap.net/), sponsored by the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Cyprus Tourism Organisation and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism and supported by http://www.velvetclassic.net/ and http://www.istos.ws/.
The success of our first competition (2007-2008) was beyond expectations and its objectives, promotion of the art of photography, friendship and Cyprus were fully achieved. It attracted 7.000 photographers from 105 countries.
During the competition, its website received 2.000 visits, daily for a period of 6 months and 1.500.000 in total!
It would be a great pleasure for us and will be very much appreciated by our members and supporters, if you could circulate the attached Regulations and short brief to interested people.
We are very proud of Mr Riccardo Busi’s statement: “...this event can be rightfully listed amongst the most prestigious competitions organised under FIAP auspices, making Cyprus one of the reference points of world photography”.

Regulations
The Competition is open to amateur and professional photographers, worldwide.
Sections: OPEN & ENVIRONMENT
· Each photographer can participate with up to three images in each section, here in after called the Works.
· The Works must be in digital format and can be entered into the Competition by registering online through the registration form which can be found in the Competition’s website, accessible direct from www.iodpc.com. Guidelines can be found in the same website under the headings “Procedures” and “FAQ”.
· The Works must be given a title prior to uploading to the Competition’s website in such a way as not to show the identity of the author in any way. The identity and online profile of the photographer will not be visible in the website at any time except after the announcement of the results.
· The Works entered in the Competition must be in digital format, still photographs (not animated), regardless of the techniques used.
· The Works submitted must be in accordance with the following guidelines:The size of the photos should be between 6 Mpixels (3072 X 2048 pixels) and 12 Mpixels (4752 X 3168 pixels) in jpeg format. The maximum file size should not exceed 100 MB.
· The Works entered must be produced by the Competitors and be their intellectual property.
· It is the responsibility of the Competitors to get a written consent from any individuals depicted in the photographs submitted. For underage people Competitors should get written authorisation of their parents / custodians. The organizers shall not be held responsible for any claims of violation of this term.
· The Works must be entered into the website by the competitors after they register into the Competition’s website (the procedure is very simple). In case the competitors do not manage to upload their photos or the result of upload is not satisfactory or there are technical difficulties of any unexpected kind, the organizers shall not be held responsible. It is the responsibility of the competitors to ensure that their works have been uploaded to the website correctly. Assistance as to the use of the website can be obtained online from the team of www.istos.ws or by sending an email to istoselida@gmail.com.
· The names of all winners and all works entered in this Competition along with the names of the sponsors and advertisers will remain on the internet, at least up to the end of 2012 and can be accessed through the Competition’s website www.iodpc.com.
· The winners, as derived from the public voting and the judging panel, will be final and cannot be appealed.
· The Works will be judged both by the Public and by an International Panel of Judges and separate prizes will be awarded.
Timetable:
1. 1 November 2009 to end of January 2010: the Competition will be open for the posting of photographs.
2. 1 November to 15 February 2010: the public to vote for the 50 most popular photographs in each category. The method of voting by the public can be found on the Competition’s website.
3. 15 April 2010: Results by the International Panel of Judges.
4. 30 April 2010: results to be announced on the Competition’s website www.iodpc.com and through press releases. The finalists, including the winners will be notified by email. All winners will get a special certificate.
5. The Organizers will prepare and present the final Works for exhibition and prepare a suitable catalogue, duly acknowledging the ownership of all works and naming all photographers.

Exhibition: The final Exhibition will include 40 photographs in each section (30 through international judging and 10 through public voting, in order of merit).
Catalogue: A catalogue will be sent to photographers whose works will be exhibited.

Ιστορικό της Φωτογραφικής Εταιρείας Κύπρου
Η Φωτογραφική Εταιρεία Κύπρου ιδρύθηκε το 1960 από μια μικρή ομάδα φίλων της φωτογραφίας. Το 1964 έγινε επίσημο μέλος της Διεθνούς Ομοσπονδίας Καλλιτεχνικής Φωτογραφικής (FIAP).
Η διάδοση της τέχνης της φωτογραφίας στα χρόνια που ακολούθησαν και η αναγνώριση της ως μια μορφή έκφρασης, οδήγησαν στην επέκταση των δραστηριοτήτων της ΦΕΚ. Από το 1985 δημιουργήθηκαν και λειτουργούν Τμήματα της ΦΕΚ στη Λεμεσό, Πάφο και Λάρνακα. Μέλη μπορούν να γίνουν κάτοικοι της Κύπρου, ανεξάρτητα από φυλή και θρησκεία.
Η ΦΕΚ, έχει καθιερωθεί ως ένας αναγνωρισμένος καλλιτεχνικός οργανισμός που διοργανώνει κάθε χρόνο αρκετές ποιοτικές τοπικές και διεθνείς φωτογραφικές εκδηλώσεις όπως, εκθέσεις, διαγωνισμούς, σεμινάρια, διαλέξεις, τεχνική σκοτεινού θαλάμου, φωτογραφικές εκδρομές και συζητήσεις.
Η ΦΕΚ αισθάνεται περήφανη για τα επιτεύγματα των μελών της που ξεπέρασαν τους εαυτούς τους στη ειρηνική μάχη των διεθνών φωτογραφικών διαγωνισμών. Οι κορυφαίοι διεθνείς τίτλοι της FIAP που επάξια απονεμήθηκαν σε μέλη μας μέχρι τώρα, είναι το Master Photographer στον αείμνηστο Γιώργο Λανίτη, ιδρυτικό μέλος της ΦΕΚ, και το EFIAP/p (Excellence FIAP Platinum) στον Ανδρέα Λ. Ανδρέου.
Το Noέμβριο 2007 τιμήθηκαν και οι 33 τιτλούχοι φωτογράφοι-μέλη της ΦΕΚ οι οποίοι εξέθεσαν έργα τους σε ειδική έκθεση που έγινε για πρώτη φορά από την ίδρυση της ΦΕΚ. Mέχρι σήμερα ο αριθμός των τιτλούχων ανήλθε στους 35.
Αποκορύφωμα των προσπαθειών των δραστήριων μελών της Εταιρείας ήταν και η διοργάνωση του 1ου Διαδικτυακού Διαγωνισμού Ψηφιακής Φωτογραφίας, το 2007. Ο διαγωνισμός αποδείχτηκε πολύ δημοφιλής και ένα επιτυχημένο γεγονός αφού προσέλκυσε συμμετοχές από 103 χώρες αλλά και χιλιάδες επισκέψεις σε εξειδικευμένες σελίδες τόσο για την Κύπρο όσο και των υποστηρικτών αυτής της προσπάθειας που βρίσκονται στην ιστοσελίδα του διαγωνισμού (www.iodpc.com).
Η διοργάνωση του Διαδικτυακού Διαγωνισμού έγινε κατορθωτή χάριν στην ευγενή χορηγία και υποστήριξη των Πολιτιστικών Υπηρεσιών του Υπουργείου Παιδείας και Πολιτισμού, του Κυπριακού Οργανισμού Τουρισμού, του Γραφείου Τύπου και Πληροφοριών και της ΑΤΗΚ.
