Soojung Cho

A contemporary visual Artist

I have much pleasure to introduce to you my friend and artist Soojung Cho, whose work involves painting with oil and other staff. Her subject matter is principally drawn from nature. Her style which includes impressionistic and naturalistic themes enhanced by her dramatic use of colour, which I find particularly delightful. She was born, grew up and educated in Seoul, Korea. After she graduated from college, she moved to United States to study Fine Art in 1977. Her paintings have been extensively exhibited from Seoul, Korea, to New York, New Jersey. She lives and work in New Jersey.

Artist Statement
Understanding the world we live in only takes place when we interpret the information came through our senses. New world would be born when we create the new, not as it is, especially through seeing and hearing.

You would probably pass by chaos and destruction through the process when you create new things but you also could discover joy and delight.
My work is reconstitutes the colors and forms reflects the inner sentiments and emotions in order to create the new images. Leave a wide margin in a simple screen would give a feel of rest to eyes of the people who is tired of complex modern life.

Also simple and empty space of the canvas let the beholders enjoy trying to insert the images of their own. To me, the flower always means life. It is beautiful and fragile.

But also is existence conceiving hope and promise of life for the future. It is visually delightful and has divine beauty of eternity. Thus, the flower blooms plentifully in my canvas to symbolize seeking hope and promise that we lost somewhere in our modern life.

The route which appears frequently also is an expression which overcomes a deep despair when we seem to feel lost.

Actually we are easy to lose our way if we don't have clear life's purpose. We all are nomad to look for the way to go. Most frequently I paint sky, it is space that we can find rest, it is space for our soul, it is space for our hope.

I am thankful that I can express and share the dark, painful wounds of my soul through my works and I continue to endeavor to visualize invisible beauty of the eternity. I try to work with leading light of hope and warmth which keeps our life as a whole.

At least I could share joyful moment even though I don't have any power to lead and create life. Soojung Cho

Soojung Cho, Μία σύγχρονη ζωγράφος

Είναι με μεγάλη χαρά που σας παρουσιάζω τη φίλη Soojung Cho, επιτυχημένη ζωγράφο η οποία ζωγραφίζει με λάδι. Το κύριο θέμα των έργων της είναι επηρεασμένο από τη φύση. Το στυλ της, που περιλαμβάνει ιμπρεσιονιστικά και θέματα της φύσης ενισχύεται με τη δραματική χρήση των χρωμάτων, το οποίο βρίσκω ιδιαίτερα ευχάριστο.

Η Soojung Cho γεννήθηκε, μεγάλωσε και σπούδασε στην πρωτεύουσα της Κορέας, Σεούλ. Αφού αποφοίτησε από το κολέγιο, πήγε στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες το 1977 για σπουδές Καλών Τεχνών. Τα έργα της έχουν εκτεθεί πολλές φορές από τη Σεούλ, Κορέα, στη Νέα Υόρκη μέχρι το Νιού Τζέρσεϊ. Ζει και εργάζεται στο New Jersey των ΗΠΑ.

Η κατανόηση του κόσμου που ζούμε γίνεται μόνο όταν ερμηνεύουμε τις πληροφορίες που προήλθαν μέσα από τις αισθήσεις μας.

Ο νέος κόσμος θα γεννηθεί όταν θα δημιουργήσουμε το νέο, όχι, έτσι όπως είναι, ιδίως μέσα από το τι βλέπουμε και ακούμε.
Κατά τη διαδικασία δημιουργίας νέων πραγμάτων, είναι πιθανό, να περάσουμε μέσα από το χάος και την καταστροφή, αλλά θα μπορούσε επίσης, να ανακαλύψουμε τη χαρά και την αγαλλίαση.

Η δουλειά μου ανασυνθέτει τα χρώματα και αντανακλά τα εσώτερα συναισθήματα, προκειμένου να δημιουργήσει τις νέες εικόνες. Αφήστε ένα ευρύ περιθώριο σε μια απλή οθόνη και θα δώσει μια αίσθηση ξεκούρασης στα μάτια των ανθρώπων, που έχουν κουραστεί από την πολύπλοκη σύγχρονη ζωή.

Επίσης, στον απλό και άδειο χώρο του καμβά τους, οι άνθρωποι απολαμβάνουν την προσπάθεια να τοποθετούν τις δικές τους εικόνες. Για μένα, το λουλούδι σημαίνει πάντα ζωή. Είναι όμορφο και εύθραυστο. Αλλά, συμβολίζει επίσης, την ελπίδα και την υπόσχεση της ζωής για το μέλλον. Είναι ευχάριστο οπτικά και έχει τη θεία ομορφιά της αιωνιότητας.

Έτσι, τα λουλούδια ανθίζουν πλούσια στον καμβά μου, συμβολίζοντας την ελπίδα και την υπόσχεση που κάπου χάσαμε στη σύγχρονη ζωή. Η διαδρομή επίσης, η οποία εμφανίζεται συχνά, αποτελεί μια έκφραση η οποία υπερνικά τη βαθιά απόγνωση όταν κάποτε αισθανόμαστε ότι κάπου χαθήκαμε.

Στην πραγματικότητα, είναι πολύ εύκολο να χάσουμε το δρόμο μας, εάν δεν έχουμε σαφή σκοπό στη ζωή μας. Είμαστε όλοι νομάδες σε αναζήτηση του δρόμου μας. Χρησιμοποιώ πιο συχνά τα χρώματα του ουρανού, γιατί είναι ένας χώρος που μπορεί να μας ξεκουράσει, είναι χώρος για την ψυχή μας, είναι χώρος για την ελπίδα μας.

Είμαι ευγνώμων που μπορώ να εκφράσω και να μοιραστώ το σκοτάδι, επώδυνες πληγές της ψυχής μου, μέσα από τα έργα μου και συνεχίζω να προσπαθώ να συλλάβω την αόρατη ομορφιά της αιωνιότητας.

Προσπαθώ να εργαστώ με οδηγό το φως της ελπίδας και της ζεστασιάς, που κρατάει τη ζωή μας ως σύνολο. Τουλάχιστον, θα μπορούσα να μοιραστώ μερικές χαρούμενες στιγμές, αφού, δεν έχω καμία δύναμη για να ηγούμαι και να δημιουργήσω ζωή.
